PRACC 2014- Final Round and Positions.

September 29, 2014

From David Munro

PRACC – Gosport 28th September

18 skippers turned up for the last of the PRACC series for 2014. The sun shone all day and the wind provided a gentle top suit breeze from a favourable direction which allowed the RO (Rod Carr) to set a course almost down the full length of the lake. 9 races were sailed with Peter Wiles winning 5 which gave him a clear lead at the end of the event. The racing for the remaining places provided a close fought battle with Mike Nichols and Vernon Appleton each winning 2 and Dave Andrews finishing on a high by winning the final race of the day.

Linda and I appreciate the support we have received from skippers in running the series over the years. We are sad to give it up but have all confidence in Vernon Appleton as the RA Class Captain in continuing to promote the A class

Thanks David, its now up to the rest of us to carry on the great work that Linda and yourself have done in keeping the Radio A class yachts sailing in the UK, hopefully we can all be enthused over the coming months to get our boats ready for 2015.

Congratulations to Pete Wiles and Vernon on finishing 1st & 2nd in 2014, with a fantastic 3rd place (and the Gerry Gray trophy) for Bob Conner in his 1st season with the Radio A’s.

Still a bit more racing to come this season with the St George Trophy @ Hampton Court and regular club racing at Gosport and Poole, so keep the news coming in.

The dates for 2015 are almost there with just a final confirmation of the Midlands rounds before we can issue them out to you.
