Short message from David Munro

March 18, 2014

A brilliant way to start the new season, decent top suit breeze and wall to wall sunshine.  Lets hope that this is a good sign for the rest of the year.

It was nice to see 21 boats on the day and particularly as some of those were from skippers who were new to RAs which can only be good for the class.

As Hampton Court is a long narrow lake the optimum wind direction has to be almost down the length of the lake and it was slightly unfortunate that the direction on the day was some 30 degrees off this line which meant that the race officer – Colin Trower, was forced to incorporate a dog leg in the course in order to provide a windward beat.  This direction continued throughout the day but on the whole it did not detract from an enjoyable days racing for all concerned.  Results and photographs for the days sailing appear on the Hampton Court website.

Fingers crossed – we hope for an equally good turnout for the next PRACC on 23rd March at Poole
