2013 MYA Radio A Nationals – A message from John Smith

A's at Gosport by Mike Clifton

A’s at Gosport by Mike Clifton

It is entirely fitting that in this year of the 90th Anniversary of the A Class, the Radio A National Championships should be held at Gosport whose Centenary is also being celebrated this year.

This note is both a notification and a form of plea for as well as the RA Nationals, we are also hosting the RC Laser Nationals, the Tri Services IOM Nationals and the Vane 36 Nationals.  If one includes the club calendar, with what will amount to over 100 events for us during our 100th year (no particular link) there is a lot to be handled.

My plea as sailing secretary is therefore that all skippers both support the event and class as strongly as possible and that race entries are submitted as early as possible please. The official closing date is 31st August but please don’t leave it anything like that late to enter.

We have kicked off the entries so let’s hope we can see a classic list of skippers for what should be, NO – WILL BE – a fabulous event.

The official NOR has been published and race entries can be made either in hard copy, with payment, to John Smith or Online via the MYA Electronic Entry system.

For those of you who know him, and most do, Chris Watts has kindly agreed to act as Principal Race Officer so you can look forward to an efficiently run event, good course setting and someone who really knows his stuff.

There will be a page on the club website www.gosportmybc.org.uk and follow the links with information about the event, entries list, and as we sort out the various ramifications, details of social/get together opportunities.

Don’t forget that the Nationals this year will also be the climax of the PRACC series so show your support for the class as a whole and for David Munro on behalf of all his hard work, by entering, racing and thoroughly enjoying yourselves.
