PRACC 2- Pete Wiles takes the win.

April 16, 2012

A fine sunny day greeted 18 skippers for the Eastbourne leg of the PRACC. The downside was a cold north easterly wind and when I say cold I’m not kidding – real “Brass Monkey” stuff.

A windward/leeward course was set with a short hitch at the windward end to keep the boats separated and a gate at the leeward end and this course remained, with minor adjustments, for the whole day. Although the wind direction allowed the racing to be more or less up and down the length of the lake the houses and trees at the windward end of the lake created some interesting and in some cases unpredictable wind shifts.

The entry was split into 2 fleets and we managed to sail 9 races. Peter Wiles emerged as the winner at the end of the day closely followed by Dave Andrews with his Sword. Interestingly Dave won 4 of the day’s races which was one more than Peter who had 3 wins to his credit. Trevor Binks came 3rd with his Venom and a very popular win in race 5 was achieved by Phillip Wiles who managed to beat his Dad into 2nd place. The day’s results are on the Eastbourne clubs website.

Thanks must go to the race team at Eastbourne for their efforts and also to the ladies of the club for providing strategic cups of hot drinks throughout the day
