Wyre Trophy & PRACC 3 Results

April 24, 2011

Although the travelling skippers were initally met by a mirror like lake with only a few zephyrs coming across the lake, the locals were confident that the sea breeze would arrive.

The 1st few races were held in light conditions almost straight down the lake, but as predicted the sea breeze kicked in early and by late morning the conditions were perfect being nice top of N01 rig and straight down the lake.

Darin Ballington and Vernon Appleton had good results early on but the increased wind brought Rob Walsh and Derek Priestley into play both sailing Hard Tacks their power gave them a big advantage going upwind.

Special mention to Dave Stewart who in the 1st race with his new boat managed a win.

After 16 races the results were as below and Rob Walsh gets his name on the Wyre Trophy.

Thanks to all at Fleetwood for hosting the event and Eric for acting as PRO. Those who travelled had an excellent days sailing which made the early start well worth the effort.

The series move south again for the next round at Coalhouse Fort. Check back for the details.
