What’s Happening?

February 13, 2011

Things have been quiet on the A class new front recently but with the 1st signs of spring just starting to show and the water thawing for the moment I thought I would bring people up to date with some of the “gossip” I have heard.

New Boats.

Ray Baker and Martin Dovey are busy building boats in the midlands for skippers for this years PRACC series, mostly for existing entrants but also a new boat for John Smith of Manor Park who is hoping to join in the fun this year.

I understand that Vernon A may have a shiny new boat this year as well.

I dont know what David Munro is currently doing, but you can be assured that he will be beavering away in his shed making an “A” for someone somewhere.

2011 Centenary A Class Festival

Speaking to Derek Priestley, he tells me that organisation is under way and that this should be made public soon, information such as timetable, social events and accomodation are being worked on.
This is a 10 day event taking in the vane A and radio A Nationals. It is hoped that there will be a cross over, and that some Radio skippers will enter the Vane A’s.

Wyre Trophy Fleetwood- Easter weekend.

Fleetwood are happy to host a friendly event on the saturday before the PRACC event if there is interest, or Derek has mentioned a Vane A training day for those who fancy learning the basics before the Nationals. Finally they are also hosting an RC laser event on the Bank Holiday Monday should you fancy a full weekend of sailing!
